Travel: The BORACAY Experience

Midyear of 2012 when we booked ourselves in Cebu Pacific bound to Kalibo, Aklan. Everyone was excited when we had our flight booked, because it was our first time to step in the amazing island of Boracay.

According to pareng Wikipedia, Boracay is a small island in the Philippines located approximately 315 km (196 mi) south of Manila and 2 km off the northwest tip of Panay Island in the Western Visayas region of the Philippines.  In 2012, Boracay was awarded as the best island in the world from the international travel magazine Travel + Leisure.

It was past 12 in the afternoon when we departed Manila bound to Kalibo, Aklan. The flight was delayed, as usual due to flight congestion a.k.a the air traffic. Nevertheless everyone was excited; we were experiencing the adrenalin rush, we cannot feel the exhaustion of our body. Going to Caticlan, when we arrived in Kalibo International Airport, there are already vans and bus that is bound to Caticlan. It costs around 300 pesos for bus and 200 for vans both modes of transportations are inclusive of boat ride. It is about 1.5 to 2 hours of land travel from Kalibo to Caticlan, and from Caticlan Port it would take 15 minutes boat ride to Jetty Port.

Welcome to Aklan!

When I had my first step in Boracay, there was a feeling of excitement. Unfortunately while riding in our service to our hotel in station 2, we experienced an uncertainty. That causes our delay to our appropriate hotel. The entire Boracay Island is somehow commercialized. There are business establishments. At last we had our check in Tan’s Guesthouse, which is located in Station 2.

Our first night was quite excited. We had our first dinner in D’mall. Prices of food there were not too expensive. We walked in the seashore and observed the beauty of the island during the night.

On our next day in Boracay, we spent our day in various activities such as Helmet Diving, Island Hopping, ATV, and of course shopping.

At night, we dressed ourselves and avail the buffets in Station 2. There are various choices in the buffet which we really enjoyed it.

For me, I will go back to boracay, since I have not fully enjoyed our stay there because there are activities that I want to experience.
